Durango sits at 6,500 feet in the San Juan Mountains, with Purgatory Resort 25 miles north and Mesa Verde an hour south. The Narrow Gauge Railroad still runs through downtown, and the Animas River is cold enough to keep the fly fishing honest all summer. Our houses put you close to all of it, with room to spread out when you get back.

Purgatory Resort is 25 miles up the highway. Ski season runs November through April, with lift tickets available nearby.
River right outside
The Animas runs through town. Rafting outfitters launch a few blocks from Main Avenue, and the trail along the bank is flat and easy.
Mesa Verde day trip
The cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde are an hour's drive. Go early, book the Cliff Palace tour in advance, and you'll have the morning light to yourself.
Downtown walkable
Main Avenue has independent restaurants, breweries, and gear shops. You won't need the car for dinner.
Year-round riding
Durango has more mountain bike trail miles per capita than almost anywhere in Colorado. Rentals and guided rides are easy to arrange.
